Amalia Flaisher
Amalia Flaisher's functional glass art includes sustainable handmade Judaica glassware used to celebrate the rituals of Jewish life. For Chanukah, her collection includes challah trays, hand-painted with her one-of-a-kind mixed colors, candle holders and menorahs. Her uniquely beautiful dreidels are made from repurposed recycled glass, as are many of her other items. Amalia’s glass art also includes tzedakah boxes, mezuzot and glassware for the celebration of Shabbat, Rosh Hashanah and Pesach. Other decorative and gift selections include platters, bowls, vases, clocks, wall art, and more.
Amalia handcrafts her glassware using kiln-formed glass molds and kiln techniques. Each piece is hand-painted with special glass enamels and then kiln-fired to enable the enamels to fuse. Many of Amalia's pieces feature her signature Tree of Life, which serves as a symbol of strength and growth in all aspects of life. Her Tree of Life mezuzot are created in a variety of colors.
The artist's diverse training in graphic design, metalsmithing, photography, and silk painting led her to glass as an intriguing art medium. Impressionism greatly influences her style, and the colors of nature and the environment are recurrent themes in Amalia's work. "Each one of my pieces takes on a unique and different look depending upon the angle in which the light penetrates or refracts off the glass." Amalia's dynamic use of color collections and delicate design can find a place in any home. Amalia is also happy to customize her art.
